Intel® Technology Access Device Pairing Guide

Introduction

Intel® Technology Access provides the means for applications to access Intel®-platform capabilities using APIs. An application with a valid Intel Technology Access API key can request access to the capabilities of a device, but access is not permitted until the Device Pairing process is successfully performed. In most cases, the pairing process is only needed when accessing a device for the first time. Subsequent requests to access the device will not normally require the pairing process to be repeated. Applications can not access Intel Technology Access capabilities without completing this pairing process.

Before You Begin

Before beginning the device pairing process, please ensure the following:

  1. Intel Technology Access software has been installed on the device
  2. The application has been installed on the device
  3. The application has a valid Intel Technology Access API key
  4. The device has an active Internet connection

Device Pairing

As shown in figure 1, the device pairing process begins with the application requesting one or more capabilities on the current device. The application provides the Intel Technology Access API key and the application name as credentials. Once the Intel Technology Access service validates the credentials, the Intel Technology Access API service returns a signed Resource Access Token (RAT) to the application. The application then uses the RAT when requesting capabilities from the device.
