Get Your Entry Level Programming Students Excited About Parallel Programming with Intel® Advisor XE
Dr. David Valentine describes his success teaching parallelism to his entry level students at Slippery Rock University. Students are excited and engaged when they see a dramatic performance increase from parallel programming. Dr. Valentine has been using the Intel® Parallel Studio XE suite of tools in his classroom for years to teach introductory students how to grab the "low hanging fruit" and boost the productivity of their projects. This demonstration begins with a completed version of a ACM SIGCSE Nifty assignment and explains to students how Intel® Advisor XE can be used to identify hot spots that will benefit from parallelism. Intel Advisor XE is a breakthrough threading prototyping tool that simplifies data driven threading design for C, C++, C# and Fortran applications.
