Installing an older version of Intel® Parallel Studio XE or Intel® System Studio with a 2016 named-user license

This article is relevant if you have a 2016 named-user license

If you recently purchased an Intel® Parallel Studio XE or Intel® System Studio product, extended your support for an older product or received a free upgrade for your existing product, you are likely to have a 2016 license. See: Required Product License Upgrade for Intel® Parallel Studio XE 2016 and Intel® System Studio 2016.

The 2016 license gives you access to the new 2016 products and updates. However, you may still choose to install an older version that better suits your needs. If this is the case you will not be able to install the product using the Serial Number option in the installer.

Before you start the installation do the following:

  • Manually generate a license file for your system. Click here for more details.
  • Place the license on your system.
  • In the installer choose option 3 “Choose alternative activation”.
  • Browse to the license file and select it.

If you wish to install the product on more than one system, you will need to repeat the process for each system, up to the allowed number of systems as specified in the EULA.

Note: This is only an issue if you wish to install an older version with the new 2016 license. The license upgrade will not affect your already installed products.
