Intel® Game Developer Program

Today at GDC, Intel announced Achievement Unlocked, Intel’s new Game Developer Program. The Intel Game Dev Team is working hard to ensure this coordinated, impactful effort helps game developers worldwide be successful creating games using Intel® processors and Intel® graphics in both Windows* and Android* environments. Here are some highlights of the program.

We’ll be conducting seeding contests designed to put the latest Intel® hardware into your hands. You can check out the one happening now here and then submit your entry here.  What is your dream game using Intel® Iris™ graphics?  Just tell us the positive impact this piece of hardware will have on your ability to develop games. Our AE team will evaluate all the applications, and choose one.  The winner will be awarded a cutting-edge Intel® Core™ i7 processor-based laptop as a long term loan for game development. As an Intel employee, I can’t enter, but I wish I could because I’d like to own a machine with Intel Iris graphics.

You say you already have a game developed? During 2015, at major events you’ll be able to make an appointment at an Intel Tech Lab and have an Intel AE help you use Graphics Performance Analyzers to performance profile and potentially improve your game’s performance. If the game is on Android, our AEs can also show you how to add native x86 support to it. We’ll be doing these Tech Labs at major events in 2015 so stay tuned for dates and locations.

At GDC, you can also learn about the 2015 Level Up Contest, co-sponsored by Intel and Steam*. It’s now part of Achievement Unlocked. To enter, see the full rules and then create a game demo that takes advantage of Intel® technology on an All-in-One system. Prizes will be awarded at PAX Prime* 2015. These include cash prizes and having your game featured in the Level Up Hall of Glory and on the Steam* Demos Page. You will also have a chance to have your demo turned into a full-on productized game and distributed on Steam. Threaks award-winner Beatbuddy* was a past Level Up winner and is now on its way to a million downloads.

Did you attend our Game Changer Camps in January? During 2015 we will be doing more of these small group camps designed to help you unravel some of the hardest problems in successful game development as well as putting on more of our highly successful Buzz Workshops. Last year Buzz Workshops were held in San Francisco, Seattle, London, and Stockholm, and in 2015 we will be repeating those and adding four new ones. At these workshops you’ll hear from experts on the creative, technical, and business aspects of game development and be mentored by industry experts on any hurdles you’re experiencing with game development.

And last, Achievement Unlocked 2015 will include a pumped-up Black Belt Program to give game developers like you the recognition they deserve for extreme creativity. As a Black Belt, you’ll have the opportunity to meet other creative geniuses both online as well as at invite-only events and get help promoting and selling your game.

We know that to you success matters and we want to help you be successful in 2015. So find out more and get involved in Achievement Unlocked at software.intel.com/gamedev
