Preface
This document provides a general overview of system administration on the Intel® Xeon Phi™ coprocessor. It is written with the small scale system administrator in mind. It is not intended as a replacement for the documentation which comes with each release of the Intel® Many Integrated Core Architecture (Intel® MPSS) but as a supplement, providing advice, troubleshooting suggestions and pointers to other useful documents.
Overview
This paper provides a look at the Intel Xeon Phi coprocessor from the system administrator’s point of view.. Covered in this paper are the following:
- System requirements
- Installing and updating the systems software and understanding coprocessor status states
- Intel(R) MPSS Configuration: Network (bridging), User Configuration, Power Management
- Tools to verify proper installation of Intel(R) MPSS,
- Additional configuration: LDAP, NIS, micrasd, OFED, Ganglia, NFS, Lustre
- Troubleshooting
This guide primarily is a reduction of the Intel(R) MPSS User Guide. The larger guide is undergoing changes for a more streamlined flow, thus we expect that sometime in 2015 we will deprecate this Administrator Guide in favor of the Intel(R) MPSS User Guide.
